PANDYA ACCEPTS INVITATION TO JOIN BRITISH ACADEMY FORUM OF EXPERTS

Buddhdev Pandya MBE accepted invitation to debate ‘Multicultural London’ organised by the British Academy Forums. The Forum is bring together select groups of about 30 experts - including politicians, academics and civil servants – who might not normally get together to share issues of complex culturally diverse city.

Mr Pandya said, “I am pleased to be invited to join the forum and share views with other colleagues from diverse fields by the Academy”. He added, “London is a unique place with centre of focus for people from all over the world and our understanding of its complex issues remains fluidic to appreciate the challenges and opportunities facing those who live and work in the city”. The Forum is to meet on 14^th June 2010 at the British Academy in London.

ASIAN LITE SCOOPS A SECOND AWARD

In May 2008, Asian Lite, edited by Indian origin Journalist Buddhdev Pandya MBE was honoured by a well-reputed professional media network How -DO in Britain.

Anasudin Azeez, also an Indian origin, managing director of Manchester-based New Asian Media Ltd and publisher of Asian Lite magazine, received the award on Tuesday at a function at the House of Commons in London chaired IAB president Fabian Hamilton, MP.

A 12-member judging panel, led by IAB chief executive Malcolm Trotter, short-listed the winners from hundreds of applicants.Azeez launched Asian Lite last year after leaving an editorial post with Johnston Press, one of the largest regional newspaper groups in Britain.

Mr Pandya, Chief Editor of Asian Lite said, "We are delighted to have received such a recognition which reflects on the dedication of the production and marketing team of the paper at New Asian Media Ltd."

Asian Lite has gained huge popularity amongst the readership in the communities across the country, now reacing over 30,000 circulation mark. He added, "The two scoops are indeed a great clessing for the team as Asian Lite approaches its birthday".

Asian Lite, launched in June 2007, is the only journal in the British market for professional British-Asians especially the highly skilled migrants and business people from India. Within a year, it has become the media-partner of many major immigrant organisations in the country .
Asian Lite is also the first one in British Asian media to introduce Internet Television by utilizing the spread of broadband facility in the country.

The publication readership has reached nearly 100,000, the title is providing multi-task promotional facilities like Print, Web and Television at a single platform.

The paper has a principled stand on advertising and declining clients from sex chat lines, astrologers, escort agencies and fake sadhus.Because of its family and community oriented contents, the newspaper is widely distributed at community centers, temples, gurudwaras and other religious places

Asian Lite Edited by Buddhdev Pandya honoured by a media award

A well-reputed professional media forum in Britain has honoured Asian Lite, edited by Indian origin journalist Buddhdev Pandya MBE.

How-Do media network, one of the largest media forums in England, selected Asian Lite, published by New Asian Media Ltd, as one among the eight best magazines in the region during their annual award function held om 24th April at Manchester United Stadium at Old Trafford.

Asian Lite was the only community title selected for the award category from over 180 entries.
The 12 high-professional judges, including BBC's Gordon Burns and Jim Hancock, finalised the candidates by analysing their performance in 2007.

The award committee considered several factors including growth of the company, reversing decline, job creation, financial performance, industry accolades, innovation, staff development and leadership.

Buddhdev to join debate in Europe on Russian spekaing migrants

A project is launched by EU Russian-speakers Alliance and non-governmental international organisation joining more than 40 representatives of almost all EU Member States to exchange of experience of the Russian-speaking minority with other ethnic and linguistic minority groups of the European Union.

Mr Buddhdev Pandya MBE, is invited to take part in the debate in areas of protecting minority rights and promoting their interests in EU Member States. He will be representing European Multicultural Foundations, a well established organisation with members from many European countries. Mr Pandya is Policy and Communication Advisor of European Multicultural Foundation.

"The democratic structure of EU provides a great opportunity to discuss between the minority ethnic communities and as a citizen of UK of Indian origin there is much to explore at the European level to promote racial equality, I am delighted to have been invited to share the significant progress made in the UK on equality legislation and community cohesion", said Mr Pandya.

This major event is due to be held on 17th-18th of May 2008 in Luxembourg and expecting to have over 70 delegates; 35 of them – Russian-speakers living in the EU, 25 – representatives of 17 ethnic and linguistic minority groups from 9 EU Member States and 10 – experts from Russia and European institutions.

Buddhdev Pandya MBE is Honorary Corporate Advisor and member of the Legal Action Team of British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO) which he helped to established in 1997. He is also an Honorary Corporate Advisor of HSMP Forum which recently won the Judicial Review against the Government the retrospective migration rules. He is also Chair of MiNet, a BME London Advisory network. He is also a Member of the management body of Voice4Change England, a national body funded by the Department of the Third Sector as a national voice of BME and Chair its Communication Group. He was a member national BME Compact as well as a Trustee of Urban Forum, a national charity. He is Chief Editor of Asian Lite, an award winning paper and Policy and Communication Advisor of European Multicultural Foundation, established in 1996 as a pan-European umbrella association in Brussels and active in the struggle against exclusion, discrimination and racism. Buddhdev has served on many public bodies such as Health Authority, Probation, Police Liaison and Equality Committees and has a track record of working at a senior level promoting racial equality and race relations.

Buddhdev Pandya MBE was amongst the front line community workers recognised for their contribution by the Leicester City Mayor Cllr Mary Drycott, last week at an event hosted by a leading Muslim Association.

Buddhdev Pandya, heads Policy and Communication Unit of Confederation of Indian Organisations (UK) which is a National Charity working with the South Asian Communities since 1975.

Mr Pandya was awarded and MBE in 1994 Queen’s Honours for his work for race and community relations. He had extensive experience heading a number of race equality organisations and remained a high profiled professional in the media.

He received a special certificate stating; ‘In recognition of outstanding voluntary and community contribution to Leicester City’ was awarded to Mr Pandya. One of his colleague Mr Vinod Kotecha based in CIO’s Regional Office was also recognised forhis work.

"I am honoured to have been held in such a high respect by Leicester minority communities, particulraly the Mulslim community and rewared me for my contribution in this way", said Mr Pandya

Leicester represents a large Indian population as well as Pakistani and Bangladeshi. Many families thrown out of Uganda by its President Amin, mostly Gujaraties have settled in the Midlands since early 70s. Buddhdev was also honoured by the Indian High Commisioner Dr L M Singhvi on behlalf of Brent Indian Association which he aserved a Secretary Geneneral and succeeded in establishing London's First Indian Community Centre funded through the Urban-aid Grant in 1976.

Amongst other recipients were representatives from local Vanza Society and key front line workers from the Islamic Community organisations in Leicester.
